Tortola Yacht Charter
Tortola is the most populated island among British Virgin Islands, its name was given to the island by Christopher Columbus and referred to the meaning of the Turtle Dove.
Tortola as all of the British Virgin Islands are a sailor’s fantasy land. The islands are endowed with steady trade winds, tame currents and hundreds of protected bays. Many visitors come expressly to hoist a jib and dawdle among the multiple islands, trying to determine which one serves the best rum pineapple and coconut Painkiller.
Tortola, known as the charter-boat capital of the world, is the launching pad, so it’s easy to get geared up. When the sun sets and the moon waxes full, the music begins in Tortola. Among Tortola’s sharp peaks and bougainvillea-clad hillsides you’ll find a mash-up of play places. Take surfing lessons, join fire jugglers at a full-moon party, dive on shipwrecks, and by all means go sailing amid the festive surrounding islands.
It’s the British Virgin Islands’s governmental and commercial center, plus its air and ferry hub. Tortola’s eastern end is a mix of steep mountains, remote bays and thickly settled West Indian communities. Art and surfing take pride of place.
