Guanaja Yacht Charter
Guanaja is a part of the Bay Islands of Honduras and it is located in the Caribbean Sea. About 12 kilometres is the distance between Guanaja and Roatan, and about 70 kilometres off the north coast of Honduras.
Also Guanaja or Bonacca is the name of the cay off Guanaja which is the home of the most of the approximately 10,000 people who live in Guanaja. Bonacca has been described as the Venice of Honduras due to the waterways that run through it. The other two main settlements on Guanaja are Mangrove Bight and Savannah Bight.
Guanaja is a private island which is described by most a nature lover’s paradise without the crowds and all the touches of home .The occupation of the islanders is mainly fishing and shrimping. There are many small resorts in Guanaja that are ideal to divers, snorkelers and yachters.
The island’s warm, clear waters support an extensive coral reef that is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and second only to the Great Barrier Reef off the coasts of Australia. Currently, there is still access to fresh water on Guanaja, and several waterfalls can be seen.
