Martinique Yacht Charter
Martinique is a province of France. It is part of the French Antilles and the most northerly of the Windwards Caribbean islands. Martinique has an area of 1,128 km2 and a population of 432,900. Martinique is simply one of the Caribbean’s most delightfull destinations.
Volcanic in origin,Martinique offers a striking diversity of landscapes and atmospheres while it suffers from uncontrolled urban sprawl in some places, particularly in and around the busy Fort de France which is the mercantile and political capital of Martinique, and the largest city in the French West Indies.
The rainforested, mountainous northern part is the most spectacular, but the south is more easily traversed as it features some impressive geographic features. The most important features are the many luscious beaches from Pointe de Bout, through Diamant St. Luce, the department of St. Anne and down to Les Salines.
The climate of Martinique is tropical, moderated by northeast trade winds, dry season January to April, rainy season May to August. During the rain season the island is very humid and uncomfortable.
