Trinidad and Tobago Yacht Charter
Trinidad and Tobago are southeasterly islands of the Antilles or West Indies. At the closest point, Trinidad is just 11 kilometres off the Venezuelan coast. Trinidad is surrounded by four bodies of water ,north side the Caribbean, east side the Atlantic Ocean, west side the Gulf of Paria and the south Columbus Channel – making each coast a little different. Covering an area of 5,128 square kilometres, the country consists of the two main islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and 21 smaller islands – including Chacachacare, Monos, Huevos, Gaspar Grande, Little Tobago, and St. Giles Island.
Trinidad is a popular location among yacht owners and cruisers. Most anchor in the Chaguaramas area on the far northwest side of the island. The Trinidad and Tobago Sailing Association provides services to boaters.
When we mention Trinidad wallflower bird-watchers tangled in camera and binocular straps as well as the party-hound Carnival with music and spangly costumes, comes to our mind.
But of course there’s much more to Trinidad than swamps , forests and carnival. The rural, untouristed northeast coast harbors rugged beaches of shocking beauty, while the southwest showcases the island’s Indian culture, with fragrant curry wafting through the air and flamboyant temples popping up out of nowhere.
While Trinidad booms with industry and parties all night, tiny Tobago which is located just 42kilometres across, slouches in a deck chair with a beer in hand watching its crystalline waters shimmer in the sun.Tobago is proud of its rainforests, fantastic dive sites, stunning aquamarine bays and nature reserves. In Tobago visitors enjoy the open-air bar with sandy bare feet, and laugh with the locals drinking rum.
